Really disappointed in the XBOX 360 dashboard ‘update’, which wasn’t an update at all. Twitter, Last.fm, and Facebook all run as separate ‘games’, meaning they don’t integrate with the dashboard at all. I was fully expecting to be able to listen to my Last.fm play lists while in-game, much like streaming my music from my computer. Wrong. Same with Facebook/Twitter. I was expecting to get updates from friends while I was navigating the dashboard. Wrong again. I just don’t see the appeal of running all these applications like separate ‘games’. It would be faster for me just to go to my computer and log into Facebook, rather than navigating to the Facebook app, then running it from the XBOX 360 Dashboard.

Hey, you know what Microsoft? I’ve got a better idea: GIVE US A FREAKING BROWSER ALREADY!!! I’m sure Mozilla would be more than happy to cooperate and give you a version that works, instead of wasting your time with these ridiculous updates.

Joss Wheadon, You've Done it Again!

Without even realizing it, it appears that Mr. Wheadon has sucked me into yet another one of his TV equivalents of crack—this time going under the name of “Dollhouse.”

It’s important to note that Joss had sworn off of TV after the cancellation of the incredible sci fi series “Firefly” left a bad taste in his mouth for all things corporate network.  But, apparently after a nice lunch and hard sell by one Eliza Dushku, Joss decided to jump back into the fray (and on Fox no less!) and have a go at it again.

I must admit, upon hearing the premise for “Dollhouse” (and after hearing about who was playing the lead role) I was not completely sold on the idea.  Yes, I am a true Wheadon fan, even though I admittedly have never gotten the whole “Buffy” thing (see, I’m honest!).  Even after seeing the first two episodes of “Dollhouse”, I did not have high hopes for the series, and immediately lost interest in it.  I mean, let’s face it:  Eliza Dushku can’t act.  There, I said it.  Moving on, the whole concept of the series just seemed a bit off for me.  I couldn’t put my finger on it, but something about the premise just wasn’t working for me.  Really just seemed like a bad movie that I caught on the SyFy Network one evening.

But, near the end of the first season, I started watching again, mainly due to the flurry of positive tweets, blog posts, and forums all praising the glory that was “Dollhouse.” After that, I just had to give it another go.  Either all this hubbub was legit, or it was just Joss Whedon fans refusing to see the truth.  After the last three episodes of season one (especially the finale), I was back, and I was hooked.

Enter season two.  It picked up right where season one left off, and even dug its hooks into me deeper than before, which I didn’t think possible.  The patented Wheadon charm and humor is still there, and in some ways even better than before.  The acting is…well, let’s say it could be better.  But, the story and concept are just way too compelling to turn away.

If you’re not watching this show, I encourage you to head over to Hulu and check it out.  Your brain will thank you.
